Superstitious slot machine play

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

I have been playing in casinos since the day after I turned 21 (some 13 years ago - eek getting old here:) and since the first time I sat down at one of those ‘one armed bandits’ I have been superstitious about what machine I play. Well maybe superstitious isnt quite the right word, maybe I should say very selective. You see, I will look at a row of machines and I usually like one over the others. Call me crazy, but I always get a hunch on which one will pay the most. But since I’m not playing all of the machines in a particular row, I could be completely full of crap about all of this! The last few times I’ve been in a casino, my so-called hunches have paid off.

We stopped at Sam’s Town in Shreveport LA a few months ago on the way home from visiting some family and I saw this one machine that just seemed to be beckoning me to play (yes more complete hooey!). So I sit down, hubby beside me, stick a twenty in the machine and about 3 spins into playing I hit the a $500 payout. So, for you non-believers, I have partially proven that my superslotsense, not to be confused with spidey-sense, may actually be true. Now, I’m not even going to tell you about the woman sitting 3 machines down from me that hit $11,000 on her machine.

So, now fast forward to last week when I was at another casino, this one on the Carnival Funship Ecstacy, I walked around and around the whole place, only about 3,000 sq feet until I found the machine that was calling my name. Well, techically it kept saying ‘HotShot’ but ya know, I am and so I sit down. Now this machine is a penny machine - cool it’ll take days to wipe out $20 in credits. Not exactly, since the machine was a 20 liner, 5 reel, with a 10 coin per line max bet. All that means is that if you really want to win the big jackpot prize, you must spend $2 on each spin. So I stick a $20 in this machine and bang, first spin is the ‘hotshot’ game where you can win additional credits. Within about 15 minutes my original money had grown into well over $300 but as i often do, i just kept spinning and saying to myself, I’ll stop when I hit the next jackpot, or when i’m broke. Luckily the latter never came and I left the casino when it closed at 3am (we were getting ready to pull into port) with slightly more than $200.

I think next time i’ll get my lucky rabbits foot at home.

Trump calls for repeal of Atlantic City casino smoking ban

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

ATLANTIC CITY - Donald Trump wrote to Mayor Bob Levy and City Council President William Marsh on Wednesday calling on the city to repeal a partial casino smoking ban that he claims is scaring away business.
In his two-page letter, Trump said gamblers are fleeing Atlantic City en masse for competing casinos in Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut that don’t have smoking restrictions.

“The negative impact of the city ordinance is even more than the mere loss of a large number of smoking patrons to Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut casinos and the perhaps permanent decline in Atlantic City gaming revenue,” Trump wrote. “It also requires that each casino operator expend millions of dollars to enclose its gaming floor smoking areas with structures which will significantly obstruct the customary flow of gaming patron activity and at the same time look absolutely terrible.”

Atlantic City’s partial ban, which took effect on April 15, limits smoking to no more than 25 percent of the gaming floor at the 11 casinos. Smoking is off-limits in the remaining 75 percent of the gaming space.

Marsh said Wednesday evening he had not yet seen Trump’s letter but noted that the 75-25 smoking compromise was supported by the Casino Association of New Jersey, the gaming industry trade group that includes the three Trump casinos.

“At this point, I think the 75-25 split is very favorable,” Marsh said. “That is something that the Casino Association supported along with the majority of the casinos. So at this point, I don’t know if Mr. Trump has additional information that we don’t have.”

Levy, who also said Wednesday evening he had not yet seen Trump’s letter, stated that it would first be up to City Council to repeal the partial smoking ban. Only then would he have to decide whether to use his mayoral veto power.

Online Casino Stocks Hit Lowest Ebb

Posted by admin in Casino News

One of online gaming’s most recognisable brand names PartyGaming, has seen its shares crash to their lowest price since the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in September 2006, forced the company out of the US market.

PartyGaming’s stock price fell to 27 pence (54¢ US) at yesterday’s close of business, equalling its previous lowest price which came 10 days after President Bush put pen to paper on the Safe Port Act, which also contained the UIGEA.

The company’s stock had initially floated at 122.75 pence on June 27, 2005, peaking at 173.50 pence two months later. However, the loss of the North American arm of its business proved to be a critical one, leaving its shares to a gradual decline, which has resulted in yesterday’s low.

Posted by admin in Casino News

Delivers a Gaming Experience Unlike Any Other Currently Found in Chicagoland, Indiana or Michigan
August 02, 2007: 08:00 AM EST

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians is pleased to announce the grand opening of its Four Winds Casino Resort, which sets a new standard for gaming in the Midwest. Paying homage to the heritage of the Pokagon Band, the Four Winds Casino Resort is situated on a beautiful landscape off of I-94 at Michigan Exit 1 in New Buffalo, Mich. and offers 130,000 square feet of gaming space including 3,000 slot machines and 100 table games. It also features a 165-room suite-hotel, six restaurants, entertainment bars and retail shops. The doors will open to the public at noon on August 2nd.

“This is a proud day for members of the Pokagon Band,” said John Miller, chairman of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, and president and CEO of the Pokagon Band Gaming Authority. “On behalf of the Pokagon Band, I would like to thank the members of our Tribal Council, members of the Pokagon community and Lakes Entertainment for helping to make this vision a reality.”

“It’s an absolutely spectacular property. It has the look of a Northwoods lodge with all the amenities of a modern casino,” said Matt Harkness, General Manager, Four Winds Casino Resort. “Our staff will offer a level of guest service that has not been seen before in the region. We encourage everyone to come out and experience the difference.”

Upon entering Four Winds from its main entrance, guests enter an expansive rotunda which includes two stunning fireplaces. These fireplaces pay tribute to the Potawatomi Indians, who are known as the “Keepers of the Fire.” Over the course of the next year, renowned Native American artist Mike Larson will paint four murals in the rotunda that symbolize significant moments of Pokagon Band history. Materials such as copper, cedarwood and stone can be found throughout the property, which are utilized in many tribal ceremonies.

Players of all games are encouraged to join The W Club, the ultimate player loyalty club, offering greater flexibility and control of earned points and complimentaries. Club members are also entitled to exclusive slot jackpots. Unique to Four Winds Casino Resort is the Midwest’s only World Poker Tour® Poker Room, where players have a chance to participate in special promotions with a chance to win a seat at a World Poker Tour satellite event, valued at $10,000. The room holds 19 PokerPro® tables with seating for up to 158 people at a time.

In addition to its gaming attractions, the Four Winds Casino Resort also offers six restaurants including Swimm, a gourmet seafood restaurant and The Copper Rock Steakhouse, a white table cloth gourmet dining experience. Other restaurants include The Willowbrook Café, serving comfort food in a relaxed and casual twenty-four hour environment, Timbers Fast Food and Deli, conveniently situated to offer a view of the casino floor and The Buffet, with seating for up to 500 people. The property is also home to Silver Creek Bistro, a cafe serving a full line of Starbucks® products as well as an eclectic variety of fresh pastries, artisan sandwiches and specialty salads.

“If the Four Winds Casino Resort were located in Las Vegas, it would be the second largest casino in terms of gaming positions,” said Lyle Berman, CEO, Lakes Entertainment (NASDAQ: LACO), which was retained by the Pokagon Band to develop and manage the property. “It offers a full complement of slot machines, including progressive slots linked to other Native American casinos, ensuring the highest jackpots in the region. Also featured are approximately 100 table games including Blackjack, Craps, No Way Craps, Three Card Poker, Pai Gow Poker, Crazy Four, Let It Ride, Mini and Midi Baccarat, Rapid Roulette and Roulette. We are absolutely thrilled to be working with the Pokagon Band on this first class property.”

Players at Four Winds can also experience the excitement of three entirely new categories of slot game play from Chicago-based WMS Gaming. Slots such as Monopoly Big Event, Top Gun and Super Money Grab provide unique player experiences and represent the next-generation in casino entertainment. There are 98 suites available at Four Winds which include the Junior, Deluxe and Celebrity Suites, and feature curved walk-in showers, whirlpool jets and a wet bar with refrigerator and microwave. The six Celebrity Suites are created in three distinct themes, the Chicago Suites, the Harbor Suites and the Dunes Suites. Police search for Indian casino employee and robbery suspect

Posted by admin in Casino News

(08-03) 04:55 PDT Hemet, Calif. (AP) —

Police are searching for a security technician who they suspect of forcing his way into the Soboba Casino at gunpoint, hogtying four employees and disappearing with possibly more than $1 million.

Riverside County sheriff’s officials identified the suspect as Rolando L. Ramos, 25, who worked at the San Jacinto-area casino for two years maintaining its video surveillance cameras.

“No shots were fired and no casino guests were injured,” said Assistant Sheriff Pat McManus. “I don’t think (the guests) were even aware of what was going on until the doors were locked down.”

At least $2 million was in the vault during the early Thursday heist, McManus said. The amount stolen has not been disclosed.

Rosemary Morillo, vice chairwoman of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians, said that although a substantial amount of money was stolen, “what matters is nobody was hurt.”

“The suspect was cleared to work here by many security measures, but sometimes decent people do bad things,” Morillo said.

Sheriff’s deputies searched Ramos’ Hemet apartment and found theatrical makeup, suggesting that he was trying to hide his identity.

McManus said Ramos was wearing his casino uniform and identification badge when he allegedly pulled off the robbery. Several of the people he bound and gagged, and locked in the vaults, recognized him, authorities said.

Ramos had a security guard escort him into the vault area at about 5 a.m. after telling him he was going to work on surveillance equipment, McManus said.

“We do know that he tried to destroy some of the surveillance equipment in some of the surveillance rooms,” but he was unsuccessful, McManus said.

The Sheriff’s Department received the first emergency call about the robbery at 5:24 a.m. Ramos’ car was found several blocks from the casino.

Ramos apparently hid a handgun, pepper spray and duct tape in a tool belt before entering the secure vault room, McManus said. At gunpoint, he bound and gagged at least four employees, pepper-spraying one. Three employees were found in one vault, and one was found in another vault, authorities said.

Ramos was born in the Philippines and has family there and in Mexico. Investigators believe he may attempt to flee to one of those countries.

Finally, manage your betting limits and get control over your adrenaline to avoid any trouble. Stay away from any online gambling site that only wants cash, check or wire.
